In Memory Of

For 22 years, Merle Parker, dedicated his time and talent to coaching
volleyball. Five of those years were to students at Oakley High

Thank you, Janet Collins, for donating a game ball in Coach Parker's
memory to the Lady Plainsmen Volleyball Team. What an honor to have
Sandi join us and give the ball to the 2015 team.

It will be with great pride that we use the ball during our home
matches! Coach Parker will always be remembered.

Trego Tournament

The girls played tough this tournament. We opened up beating Trego in our first match 24-26, 25-23 and 25-15.

We struggled with Russell and their blocking. We lost 22-25, 18-25.

Our 3rd match in pool play vs Leoti was a win 25-7, 25-20.

After a 3 way tie in our pool, we came out in 3rd so had 1 more match vs Stockton. We struggled the 1st set 15-25 and battled back the 2nd losing 23-25.

It was a great day of volleyball in WaKeeney.

Our JV also played well in Quinter. They went 1-2 for the day beating Norton and falling to Wheatland & Quinter.

4th, 5th, 6th Scrimmage

Here are a few pictures of our live scrimmage with the 4th, 5th & 6th grade.

The Future, Part 2

Multiple days of 4th, 5th & 6th graders.  (Sorry for the not so wonderful phone pictures) BUT what a great group of 14 we worked with this week.  On Friday we spent the hour playing 6 vs 6.  Really good volleyball skills in this group.  Multiple times they were making 2 & 3 passes on their side before passing the ball over the net.  Every girl was serving well & calling the ball.  Excited to see what the future holds for these "Future Lady Plainsmen"

THANK YOU to the parents of these girls for getting them to camp this week.  We enjoyed getting to work with your daughters!!

High School Scrimmage

The high school girls have a very busy week! After having camp at 7 am, helping with Future Lady Plainsmen, they also scrimmaged Wednesday with Dighton & Sharon. It's fun to see what a difference a year has made. Up next is another scrimmage Saturday where they'll get lots of playing time having 5 matches scheduled!

8th grade scrimmage

The 8th graders played in a scrimmage at the beginning of the week. It was a great night, especially when they headed in to it after only 1 hour of camp.

If you love to watch volleyball, come see these girls play one of the days they are playing in Oakley this season. There is a good group of hard workers in the 7th & 8th grade this year.

The Future, Part 1

A couple years ago, I read an article about the growth of an athlete. The first thing it said, all players first need to develop a love of the game while learning how to play. And that is what motivated me to start our "Future Lady Plainsmen" skills.

These are our 1st, 2nd & 3rd grade group girls (on multiple days so some girls are pictured twice).  We had 10 girls throughout the week. What a fun time I've had and the high school girls working with them.

Top is Monday ~ Bottom is Thursday

A great big THANK YOU to all of the girls who attended, the girls who helped and the parents and grandparents who brought the girls and picked them up every day!
